Baltimore County’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, set for November (date to be announced) 2008, will be held in the heart of the downtown Towson shopping corridor at the newly dedicated park on the corner of York Road and Allegheny Avenue in front of the new Fidelity Building. The tree will be lit at 6:30 p.m. sharp.
“This downtown Towson location helps remind people of the benefits of shopping in Baltimore County’s historic neighborhood shopping districts – especially for the holidays,” said Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith. Participating retail shops and restaurants in the core area will be offering specials, holiday sales and discounts during the evening and encouraging people to Shop Towson First, for the Holidays!
Smith will preside over the official tree lighting – set for 6:30 p.m. Members of the Baltimore County Council, Fidelity Investments and the Towson Chamber of Commerce will help lead the festivities. Sheraton Baltimore North will provide hot chocolate and cookies at the event. The Harbor City Chorus will provide holiday music. For more information, call the Towson Chamber of Commerce at 410-825-1144.
The event is co-sponsored by the Towson Chamber of Commerce, County Executive Jim Smith, Fidelity Investments and the Baltimore County Council. WLIF Lite 102 will be on hand to serve as emcee for the evening activities.
The Tiger Marching Band from Towson University will usher Santa and Mrs. Claus, on their fire engine down Allegheny Avenue to Ridgely & Ferrens where they will sit and meet with children to hear their gift requests.
