The 2008 Towsontown Spring Festival has a brand new look this year. First, our hours extend to 7:00 p.m. on both days – so there’s more time to stroll around and visit our vendors, listen to the music and eat some of those wonderful “summer time foods.”
Opening Ceremonies begin at 12:00am on the corner of Washington and Pennsylvania Avenues.
The layout of the festival grounds has changed considerably, too. We encourage our regular patrons to pick up the free official program from any our vendors when first entering the festival grounds. It includes a two-page map of the layout as well as vendor listings.
The Spring Festival offers a wide verity of wonderful food. Food selections range from pit beef to ethnic delights and from cheese steaks to roasted corn and funnel cakes.
The children’s area is enlarged and moved to the area behind P&C Bank and M&T Bank from Pennsylvania Ave to Chesapeake Ave. The children’s area will have pony rides; inflatable rides including the moon bounce, and face painting.
A favorite area for many is our Antique Classic Cars displayed this year, on the Calvary Baptist Church parking lot area. Dozens of classic cars will take you back to a wonderful time – when life was free and easy.
For those liking a much faster pace, NASCAR Area is three times larger then last years Festival. Anchoring the North side of the festival grounds at the corner of Washington and Allegheny Ave, there will be several NASCAR racecars for your viewing pleasure. Besides, the cars, we will have the Minute Man HUMVEE, a Gaming Trailer, Basketball Shoot, a Football Toss, and a Rock Climbing Wall. Be sure to stop by and thank the Army National Guard for running this event.
The entertainment at any one of the four entertainment stage areas is exciting, fresh and fun. Each music area has a different sound and features a wide variety of music. While entry into the festival grounds is free, the music venues will charge a minimal fee but senior citizens and kids under 21, accompanied by their paying parents, may enter the music areas for free. Whether you are six or 60 – the Towsontown Spring Festival promises to make your weekend special.
By the way, the festival is a great place to buy that special Mother’s Day, graduation or wedding present because there is such a wonderful variety of things from which to choose. Our event is shopping at its best. Hope to see you and your family and friends at the Towsontown Spring Festival. Finally, we sincerely request that pets not accompany patrons to this event. With crowds climbing into the hundred thousands, with an abundance of small children attending and with the lack of curbing facilities, these festival grounds are simply not the place for our dear loving pets.
